The other week I have been with a friend of mine to IKEA in Tempelhof. I like going to IKEA not because of buying furniture or things like that, but seeing different design ideas and pretending to live the lifes they show you. They compress a lot of lifestyles in small rooms, which is interesting, but still kind of weird, isn't it?
So my friend decided to be a family father, a girl and a weightlifter for short time.
Last year hessnatur put the Humanity in Fashion Award to tender. They want to support up-and-coming designers and to sustain the aliance of fashion design with ecological and humane production conditions. The winner is promised to get a contract about the realisation of a collection for hessnatur and will get a support amount of 25.000 Euros.
During the Berlin Fashion Week they announced the three finalists, who were Janosch Mallwitz, Julia Knüpfer und Anja Umann. They and their collections are presented in the following video in German.
The winner was and still is Janosch Mallwitz (26) from Berlin. He just finished university and took part because he likes the idea of sustainability in fashion. While establishing his label "LAST", he wants to produce enhanced under fair production conditions and with ecological fabric.
His collection is called "graduation", it's about youth culture and the point where one chapter is closing and the next starts to open. There are a lot of references to pop culture and american high school, as you can see in the use of the sport numbers or the shoes, which are inspired by Grunge. He says that it ranges between smooth and edgy, but also between optimism and pessimism.
The collection seems to be of good quality and interesting textures. The zipping details are awaking the feeling of transition, which is enhanced by layering.
In my opinion he and his work really deserve to get the price, just next time, he could use more colour.
He doesn't seem to have a website, but you can find all pictures of the collection on runway passport and pictures of an installation, which was part of the competition in the palazzo italiano, on the hessnatur blog. There you can also find the twoother installations.
While my brother is watching "Project Runway", I had a look at the blog of the sartorialist.
This is a video some company did about him. I think it is interesting to see, how he is picking the people and their clothes or outfit, that he actually is going around the town for hours taking pictures and showing the world just the best one or two of them.
This is what I wore on Sylvester eve, night and following morning. The miniskirt on top of the pencil skirt is too small for me and has ever been, as I put it on I found this solution by chance. Actually I am very lucky about it, because I have it for quite a long time and nearly never wore it.
The second picture is a lamp, my boyfriend gave me for Christmas. He bought one in Ikea and painted it black and red. I love it!
Inspired by a dear friend of mine (Thanks, M!) and because I tried one by chance in a "Bio company" supermarket, I bought a lipstick made by Dr. Hauschka in deep red (the german colour and number is 06 dunkelrot). The lipstick is covering well, is not parching my lips and is made with natural ingrediences, so I am not eating oil after I applied it.
Because this lipstick made me happy, I kept on searching for other colours, for example pink, which the company Dr Hauschka doesn't sell. While searching I came across the company IKOS, which is known for their Egyptian styled cosmetic articles. The items, which caught my eyes, were those lipsticks:
They are made in really strange colours, don't they?
My first thought was: "Who is going to wear green, black or blue lipstick?" Then I came across the explanation on their website:
When applied this lipstick is colourless however depending on your mood and individual temper it changes its colour. Special, nurturing agents are sensitive to the acid content of your skin. Live to see these unrivalled colour effects. Lasts up to 12 hours. Prevents the drying-out of the lips and doesn't fade.
In my opinion this is fun! I would love to have the white or green one, which will be pearly-pink and night pink.
Besides they have those in their sortiment:
These unique lipsticks are made up of two halves. One side is kiss-proof, the other a stylish shade. Use each side separately or mix the colours.
I still wonder, how you will apply just one colour separately, but together you could paint nice patterns. Where is my white/wild rose one?
I took a little break to get some energy and get away from the Internet. This means I didn't buy any clothes in December (except a bathing suit and a warm woolen tuque, which I both needed), didn't check on any blogs and kept my Internet addiction to a minimum. It was a real relief and I am glad that I succeeded.
Temporarily I will have to deal with getting my driver licence, which is kind of difficult to me, because some times I am doing really fine and something I am sucking hard.
Other things, which will keep me busy, are that my family needs to find a house (long story...) and to apply for a university.
Besides I want to change myself a little:
Buy less clothes and if I need some to buy them from "green" shops, like Hessnatur or waschbär, or second hand.
Sew clothes myself. (I did a dress all alone, which will post soon. I am so happy, that I managed to sew it!)
Write more about the topic of "green" clothes, ideas and labels on the blog.
This was flying around my head for some time and I wanted to write it off my chest.
Over the years changing a lot of blogger did a style review or posted interesting things, which are shown on the pictures. To see the source click on the picture.
