207 - Skateboard Recycling

Today the first Dawanda craft fair has been taken place in Essen in the Zeche Zollverein (which is a beautiful example how to reuse an mining industry building after stopping the mining). In Berlin such markets are taking place a lot of times during the year, such as the Trendmafia or the Holy Shit Shopping before Christmas, where my father used to take our whole family. After a while I had the impression that there were always the same designers and products, so I stopped going to such markets. That's why I enjoyed the idea of visiting a market somewhere outside of Berlin and it was real fun! :)

Me and a friend of mine (hello there, U. :)) went there today and I found a christmas present for my mother and bought those earrings from two guys from Hamburg. They take old skateboards, which cannot be used for skating anymore and turn them into new useful things. They started in 2011 with making saucers. Their label is called 207.

 

Now they also make eggcups, earrings, banglets and cuffbuttons. They told me that they would even make triangle shaped earrings for me, as I asked them if they could do some. 

I really like the idea that they can make something useful out of those broken skateboards and I love my new earrings. On one of them you can even see that the skateboard has been used, because the coating is a little bit shabby. I simply love that look! :)

Glasses From Jimmy Fairly

 


Gladly I don't need to wear glasses. But if I needed some, I would definitely think about buying a pair from Jimmy Fairly.
The glasses are quite reasonabled priced as the cost of a pair starts at 95€. The lenses are manufactured in France and the frames in Italy.
Besides every time you buy a pair, another one is donated to a person in need. This is a wonderful idea in my opinion. (Buy one, give one.)

Happy Socks

As I told you no more clothes till November. With one exception: SOCKS!

And if I think about socks Happy Socks comes to my mind. I don't know how I came across this label. You know how it is, you look for something and there is an interesting link, which leads to another link and from there to another page and suddenly you have found something amazing. Happy Socks is something like this.

Honestly, while enjoying to wear fashion socks never occured to me as being fashionably. I normally love my socks black or midnight blue so they fit to everything and to answer the purpose intended: warming my feets. But after looking around on the homepage, I changed my mind. I need all those socks, now!

As all beautiful things nowadays those socks are designed in Sweden. How could it be different?

With 8€ per pair they maybe be a bit more expensive than the socks I normally buy. But they should be of better quality and therefor last longer.

A cute little polkadotted elephant has arrived at my room some while ago. He is helping me to hold my window open, which is as large as a door and therefor always tries to close himself after opening.

Tutorial: Ohrringhalter Zum Selbst Basteln

Zwei Wochen lang habe ich meine Kusine gesehen und viel Spaß mit ihr gehabt. Wir haben ein paar Dinge unternommen und daraus ist unter anderem dieses Video entstanden. Es ist auf Deutsch, aber ich denke, ich werde noch eine Anleitung nur mit Bildern auf Englisch veröffentlichen.

Make A Hole

Just a little sneak peak of my new closet and my new accessoires hanger.

Wish I had someone to shoot my pictures. It feels strange to me to take a picture of myself with a tripod in a public parc.

This outfit is a something special, because I just wear clothes I received as a gift or I bought second hand (except for the underwear and my socks :P). Let's start from the bottom: The chucks were given to me from my dear friend M as a gift for my sabbath year, my father bought me the shorts in a HUMANA store, the blazer is from a second hand shop in Israel (it's the only thing I paid for), the top is from the same shop in Israel but I got it for free (nobody wanted it) and the bag is from my grandmother. The value of my whole (outer) outfit and accessoires is around 3€, that's the reason I love to buy from second hand. 

I know that there are not a lot of people, who are reading my blog, but if someone feels inspired by my outfit to show me an either all second hand or donated outfit or one that is under 10€, I would love to see and to publish it on the blog. You might get something from me as a gift as well...

You Need To Accessorize!

This photo of Karla from Karla's Closet really reminds me of the importance to accessorize my outfits more. You can make the best of your clothes, when you refresh a simple dress with a new chain like Karla did. She gave her u-neck dress a complet new look, as she styled it with those two beautiful chains.
The only problem is: Where can I get accessories, which I like and will wear very often?
