Stattmarkt 2012

STATTMARKT - AN ART MARKET IN THE BATH
Even if I am not living in the beloved capital anymore, I am still trying to follow the founding or developing of new places, events, etc.
The other day a dear friend of mine told me about the Stattbad Wedding, which is used for something different as an indoor swimming pool after its closing. It is a space for art and culture; especially urban culture and contemporary art are functioning next to each other and together.
This year for the first time there will be STATTMARKT 2012. Their description says:
"It is an Art only edition, featuring designated artist project spaces combined with a commercial element. Each space will be individually curated presenting a twist to the traditional art market format & resulting in the most diverse array of artists to be showcased in STATTBAD Wedding to date."

Press Preview:
Thursday 29 November 16:00 – 19:00
Private View:
Thursday 29 November 19:00 – 22:00
Open to Public:

Ringe Vom Kaugummiautomaten

The other day my brother, my sister and me went to a DRK secondhand shop, which is located in the Seestraße 55, 13347 Berlin. As you may know I love Kilo-Secondhand shops. My favourite ones raised the price per kilo, that's why I searched for alternate shops and I found this one.
DRK stands for Deutsches Rotes Kreuz (German Red Cross). They get the clothes from donations and are financing their projects from the sale's profit.
Inside the shop there is a kilo and a fixed price section for clothes and you can search through cupboards of old books.
The shop is a little bit unorganized as you are used to at second hand shops, but they created little corners, where they are displaying accessoires etc. and fashion posters are hanging on the wall. It is decorated heartily.
I found a red top and a black velvet pencil skirt for 5 €. I can only recommand it to you to stop buy and have a look.

After the shop we went to Schraders to have dinner. It is located in the Malplaquetstr. 16b in
13347 Berlin. So if you ever happen to be hungry in Wedding stop by. They make really delicious food.

And then something magical happend. For years and years I was and am complaining that there are no gumball machines any more, where you can buy rings. I never got one as I was a child, but was dreaming about it. So my search went on and on and on this day we found one!
Strangely they are not as they have been packed in plastic balls, so I am not sure if they are there by chance. Besides we tried it and didn't get one. But one day I will come with a lot of change and will get my ring.

"Wilderer" Laced Boots

The laced boots you could barely see in yesterday's post are from Waldviertler and were manufactured in Austria.
They are producing shoes, which are most healthy for you feet. The heel's sole is not higher but a little bit lower than the rest to create an upright posture.
Positive K&ounl;rperhaltung durch den Waldviertler „Kommod Classic”
Besides the producers make sure that the shoes are produced responsibly and environmentally aware.

In Berlin there are two GEA shops, where you can buy those shoes in all different kinds.

This Is A Photo Opportunity

Found this spot for perfect berlin photo shoots, but I don't have model genes. Somehow it always happens that I look silly on pictures. :)

Fashion Station 2011

Fashion Station 2011 Logo

A lot of fashion in about 100 meter underground train. Next week on the 30th and first of July from 10 am to 8 pm you can poke around multifaceted collections from selected Berlin designers, try clothes on and if it's pleasing you buy it on the spot. The underground station U5 Alexanderplatz is going to be a colourful shopping lane and catwalk.
Naturally you don't have to pay an entrance fee.

This sounds like a lot of fun to me and I will definitely take a look at the designer the clothes and the underground station. Someone wants to join me?

This is the leaflet for those two special days:

Berlin Is The Only Love

As a lot of stories today this one starts with Facebook. Around a year ago Lasse Walter started to upload pictures from Berlin on facebook, which showed funny moments and signs, graffitis, bars and everything he thought was interesting. His friends liked the photos and were waiting to see new ones everyday, so he kept on picturing. One day some friends wanted to have a calendar with his pictures as a present and after they received it, they gave him the idea of putting all of his pictures in a book.

 Kapitel 1

Lasse liked the idea, founded his own publishing company ("Smiling Berlin Verlag") and published it on his own risks in German and English. So far it is a success, probably because this declaration of love to berlin appeals to everyone: To the tourist as well as to the original Berliner.
Besides if you also have a picture, which would fit in the book, lying for ages in your desk`s drawer you are welcome to send it in. You may win a prize or it may be published in the next edition. These are some of those pictures, you can find them here.

She Came Home Again

So maybe someone is wondering, how I will be in hamburg next weekend, if I am still in Israel. But I have news for you, I am back in Berlin, Germany! Wohoo!
The pictures have been taken in the duty free section of Ben Gurion Airport of Tel Aviv/Jerusalem.
The last ones were taken by me and my sister at the Tegeler airport in Berlin. But now I am ill, because it was too cold for me.

Exhibition: "Couture Remixed"

COUTURE REMIXED – Fashion Pieces by Stephan Hann

Under the title of ‘Couture Remixed', the Museum of Decorative Arts is proud to present some 50 lavishly perplexing creations from the fashion designer Stephan Hann, who currently lives in Paris and Berlin. His works present familiar materials in unusual contexts and thereby render their latent qualities and possibilities visible.

Created with the highest degree of aesthetic and technical skill, the works explore such concepts as ‘valueless' and ‘valuable' and form a statement about them.
This particular show sees the continuation of the series of exhibitions on contemporary design and fashion by the Museum of Decorative Arts.

Presented by:

Julius-Lessing-Gesellschaft

I think I am going to visit this exhiibition soon. Let's see how the dresses are!

Todays Outfit And Random Pics From My Week

shirt-father, blazer-h&m, scarf-grandfather, skinnys-h&m

This was the outfit I wore today. I couldn't stop making strange things with my face, so in the end I just cutted it out.

This is at the Bernauer Straße, where my alltime-favourite jumble sale is located. I love these little things, which sprayer do all over Berlin.

These two pictures have been taken in a vietnamese Restaurant, where the food was surprisingly delicious. I never tought that, because I am always afraid of trying new and foreign food.
I just wanted to show the nice interior. Unfortunately I forgot the name and the street.
